Jalen Williams has a right hamstring strain and will be reevaluated in “a couple of weeks,” Oklahoma City said.
It’s a major blow for the Oklahoma City Thunder, owners of the NBA’s best 35-8 record.
An All-Star for the first time last season, Williams is averaging 16.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5.6 assists.
He was hurt in the second quarter of Saturday’s 122-120 loss at Miami after the team initially listed right thigh soreness.
Williams missed the first month while recovering from wrist surgery, then returned in late November and started all 24 games he played before this setback.
With him out, Ajay Mitchell is expected to shoulder much of the load, averaging 14.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists as a top reserve.
