Panathinaikos coach Oded Katash talks after the win over Khimki.
“Generally, I think for 40 minutes we did a good job rebounding and hustling. I liked the effort of the players, even though in the last quarter we lost a little bit of intensity and concentration. But we can take a lot of good things from this, especially defensively. We were a little bit naive sometimes to finish the job on defense. But I like the effort. It’s a process. We are working offensively on our flow and spacing rules and all that. It’s not easy. You have to understand it’s a new system for the players, and they need to get used to it. But slowly we will get there. But defensively we have to be way more consistent with our effort.”
Panathinaikos dominated the glass with 40 rebounds to 23 for Khimki, including 21 offensive rebounds, leading to 35 second-chance points to 11 for Khimki. Panathinaikos also converted 24 of 28 free throws compared to 9 of 12 for Khimki.
