Obradovic addresses Panathinaikos’ reported pursuit of Jokic: “I don’t know what Giannakopoulos discussed with him”

The Panathinaikos coach discussed his relationship with the club owner, the reported offer to Nikola Jokic and his emotional departure from Partizan

Željko Obradović was the first guest on “EuroLeague & Friends Made in Serbia,” Euroleague Basketball’s new Serbian-language podcast hosted by Luka Mihajlovic and Bogdan Milenkovic. During the interview, the Panathinaikos coach also addressed reports of a possible offer to Nikola Jokic from owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos.

“I really don’t know what Dimitris and Jokic discussed. But if he spoke with Nikola, we know what kind of contracts he is talking about. How realistic it is or not, I really don’t know. I have spoken about Nikola Jokic so many times. There is no doubt about the opinion I have of him,” Obradović said.

The Serbian coach also reflected on his departure from Partizan: “It was one of the most difficult situations of my professional life. That day at the airport was incredibly emotional.”
