The issue raised by Ergin Ataman after the regular-season game against Valencia will not lead to any immediate change. Despite the Panathinaikos coach’s complaints, Valencia will once again assign his coaching staff the same room used earlier this month at Roig Arena for the upcoming playoff games.
Ataman had described the area as a “storage room,” calling it disrespectful to EuroLeague coaches. Footage later released by Greek media showed a basic room setup, while Valencia maintains that the space still complies with all competition requirements. EuroLeague officials reportedly reinspected the arena after the complaints and found no violations.
Spanish reports say the room is larger than the required 21 square meters and includes chairs, a table, a monitor, a lockable cabinet, a shower and restroom, plus direct access to the visiting locker room. Valencia and Panathinaikos are set to open their playoff series on Tuesday, April 28, at Roig Arena, with the off-court controversy still very much alive.
