Nikola Vucevic believes the salary structure surrounding Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown gradually complicated the Boston Celtics’ roster construction and made it difficult to preserve adequate depth.
“I think there were some signs, mostly because the big contracts and the NBA’s new rules made it difficult for them to build the team,” Vucevic told SKWEEK. “With Tatum and Brown both on such big contracts, it wasn’t easy to fit the rest of the team around those two.”
Vucevic ruled out any personal issues between the two stars: “While I was there, I didn’t sense any problems between the players.” The center was still surprised when Boston eventually traded Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers for Paul George and multiple draft picks.
