Nikola Jokic could become the highest-paid player in NBA history. According to Yahoo Sports’ Kevin O’Connor, the Serbian star will be eligible for a projected five-year, $360 million contract next summer.
Jokic has declined to sign an extension in each of the past two offseasons and can become an unrestricted free agent by turning down his $62.84 million player option for 2027-28. Waiting therefore carries a significant financial advantage.
Despite the contractual uncertainty, O’Connor’s league sources do not expect Jokic to leave Denver. The three-time MVP and 2023 NBA champion has spent his entire career with the Nuggets.
