Luka Doncic has announced the first signing of BC Roma SPQR

Luka Doncic has announced the first signing of BC Roma SPQR: Nico Mannion, who leaves Olimpia Milano after a year and a half to join the new Rome-based club.

The “Red Mamba” becomes the first major face of the project, which aims to bring the Italian capital back to the center of the basketball scene. Mannion brings name recognition, Italian identity, media appeal and international experience.

Mannion joined Olimpia Milano during the 2024-25 season. In his latest LBA campaign, he made 36 appearances, averaging 6.4 points, 2.5 assists and 1.3 rebounds in 14.7 minutes, while shooting 53.8% from two, 37.1% from three and 92.0% from the free-throw line.

In the Supercoppa, also with Milano, he averaged 4.5 points and 4.0 assists over two games. Those were rotation numbers inside a deep and competitive roster that ended the season by completing the Italian treble.

Now Mannion opens a new chapter. In Rome, he will have space, responsibility and a central technical role. For Olimpia Milano, this is another exit in the deep reshaping of the red-and-white roster.

The BC Roma SPQR project therefore starts with a major name: Nico Mannion leaves Milano after the Italian treble and becomes the first signing of Luka Doncic’s new Rome team.
