The New Orleans Pelicans have secured themselves a play-in spot for the second consecutive NBA season after a thrilling 138-131 overtime victory against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night.

The Pelicans were down by as many as 19 points before mounting a comeback to win the game. Prior to this, the Pelicans were the only team without a 15-point comeback this season.

With two regular-season games left, the Pelicans are guaranteed at least the ninth seed and have a chance to move up the Western Conference standings and avoid the play-in tournament altogether.

Pelicans coach Willie Green expressed his excitement about making it to the playoffs for two years in a row, stating that they are “continuing to build” and this is a “huge step in the right direction”. Despite their win, the Pelicans almost lost the game during regulation time.
