New Orleans’ affiliate is set to begin play at the renovated Pontchartrain Center in Laketown Park starting with the 2026-27 season

The New Orleans Pelicans have officially announced that their NBA G League affiliate will move to Kenner, Louisiana, and rebrand as the Laketown Squadron. The team is expected to begin playing in its new home for the 2026-27 season, marking the end of its run in Birmingham.

The club will play at the renovated Pontchartrain Center, a 3,700-seat venue located in Kenner’s Laketown Park. Planned upgrades ahead of the move include new locker rooms, improved audio and lighting systems, and enhanced video boards.

In the official release, the Pelicans said the new location will help strengthen alignment between player development, coaching strategy and roster flexibility with the NBA franchise. Kenner city officials also described the relocation as a meaningful economic development opportunity for the local community.
