New Orleans Pelicans fire David Griffin; Joe Dumars expected to take over

After six seasons of underachievement, New Orleans is moving on from Griffin. Dumars is the front-runner

The New Orleans Pelicans have fired David Griffin after six seasons and a 209-263 record. According to ESPN, Joe Dumars, a Louisiana native and Hall of Famer, is the top candidate to become the team’s new lead executive.

Injuries and missed playoff opportunities plagued Griffin’s tenure, especially the inability to build around Zion Williamson. Dumars could be finalized by week’s end.
