NBA Summer League: Philadelphia beats Indiana in overtime, Lakers, Spurs and Magic also earn wins

The 76ers hold off the Pacers’ comeback attempt thanks to Johni Broome, while Kaluma shines with the Lakers and the Magic, Spurs, Pelicans, Nuggets, Hawks, and Raptors all pick up victories during Saturday’s action.

Saturday’s NBA Summer League action opened with a victory for the Orlando Magic. Orlando defeated the Miami Heat 93-88 thanks to a game-saving play by Izaiyah Nelson, who blocked Jahmir Young’s potential game-tying three-pointer with seven seconds remaining.

The New Orleans Pelicans, meanwhile, completed a late comeback with a 15-2 run, overcoming the Charlotte Hornets 95-91. Hunter Dickinson was the standout performer, finishing with 21 points.

Johni Broome delivered another impressive performance, leading the Philadelphia 76ers to victory with a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds. Philadelphia held off a late comeback attempt from the Indiana Pacers, earning a 100-93 overtime win.

A summer rematch of the 2026 NBA Finals took place between the San Antonio Spurs and the New York Knicks, with the Spurs dominating behind a suffocating defensive effort. New York shot just 26.5% from the field, while San Antonio cruised to a convincing 70-49 victory.

The Denver Nuggets defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 101-82, led by an outstanding performance from KJ Simpson, who finished with 19 points, 4 assists, and a +21 plus/minus rating. Osayi Ofiso also made a significant impact, scoring 13 points and grabbing 5 rebounds in just 6 minutes and 47 seconds of playing time.

The Atlanta Hawks came from behind to beat the Brooklyn Nets, thanks to a strong contribution from their bench, which outscored the opposing reserves by 40 points. The final score was 83-76.

Seth Lundy had a spectacular shooting night, scoring 23 points while knocking down six three-pointers to lead the Toronto Raptors to a 102-89 victory over the Houston Rockets.

The highest-scoring performance of the day belonged to Arthur Kaluma. With 34 points, the Los Angeles Lakers forward carried the purple and gold to a 91-70 win over the Dallas Mavericks, taking control of the game with a dominant second-half performance.
