NBA legend Bill Russell passes away at 88

NBA Hall of Famer Bill Russell, a true basketball legend, has passed away at the age of 88.

The announcement on his social account explained that Russell passed away peacefully, with his wife Jeannine by his side.

Russell, who was very active in support of civil rights, won 11 NBA titles as a player (in just 13 years) with the Boston Celtics, the only player in league history to achieve this prestigious milestone. Among his many accolades the inclusion in the best 75 NBA players in history.

Since 2009, the NBA has dedicated to the Hall of Famer the Finals MVP award, the ‘Bill Russell NBA Finals Most Valuable Player Award’.
