NBA in talks with Kalshi and Polymarket over potential prediction market deal

According to Front Office Sports, the league is discussing a partnership with both platforms and could reach an agreement before next season

The NBA is in discussions with Kalshi and Polymarket over a possible prediction market partnership, and those talks have reportedly accelerated in recent months. Front Office Sports says the conversations have been happening informally for more than a year, but recent regulatory engagement from the CFTC has helped push things forward.

A major issue for the league is control over the most sensitive market types, especially those seen as more vulnerable to manipulation, such as player injuries or unsportsmanlike conduct. During All-Star Weekend in February, Adam Silver said the NBA was looking at prediction markets in much the same way it views traditional sports betting operators.

FOS also reports that the NBA may not choose just one company. The league could potentially strike deals with both platforms, unlike MLB, which announced an exclusive multi-year partnership with Polymarket in March. Reuters reported that the MLB agreement also includes integrity-related elements.

There is still no official timeline, but the report says a deal could be completed before the start of next season. It would mark another significant step in the growing relationship between major U.S. sports leagues and prediction markets, a space that is expanding quickly while also facing increasing legal and regulatory scrutiny.
