NBA G League reshapes pro pathway program, will launch new team for young prospects

The team will be headlined by Jalen Green, who announced his decision to play in the G League

The NBA G League is reshaping its professional pathway program with the launch of a new team in Southern California with roster spots for top prospects coming out of high school who want to play professionally instead of going to college. The team will be headlined by Jalen Green, who announced his decision to play in the G League.

The “Select Team” will play a reduced schedule of about 20 games, which is much fewer than the league’s 50-game schedule, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

The G League has also raised the salary for those young prospects, who will earn up to $500,000, according to ESPN.
