According to @mcten and ESPN, NBA officials have deemed the Lakers’ NBA Cup court “unplayable” due to slippery conditions, sending it back for repairs. Tonight’s Lakers–Mavericks game will be played on a regular hardwood court instead.
The decision followed multiple player complaints, including from Luka Dončić, who told ESPN: “It’s slippery. It’s dangerous. I slipped a lot, and so did others.” Several Lakers echoed the same concerns after Tuesday’s session.
Per Marc Stein and Dan Woike, the court will undergo maintenance and could be reinstated for the NBA Cup quarterfinals if Los Angeles advances.
