Tragedy has struck the NBA world as Brandon Clarke, forward for the Memphis Grizzlies, has passed away at the age of 29 according to reports initially released by TMZ and later confirmed by the franchise. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
Selected with the 21st overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, Clarke spent his entire NBA career with Memphis, becoming one of the franchise’s most appreciated players thanks to his energy, athleticism, and professionalism.
Over seven NBA seasons, Clarke averaged 10.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, earning a spot on the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2020. His last few seasons were heavily affected by injuries, limiting him to six games in the 2023-24 campaign, and only two in 2025-26.
In an official statement, the Grizzlies described Clarke as “an outstanding teammate and an even better person,” while expressing condolences to his family and loved ones.
