Motiejunas: “Crvena Zvezda is not sure about EuroLeague participation”

Paulius Motiejunas about Crvena Zvezda in the EuroLeague: "Despite winning the ABA Liga, its participation in the next season is not certain".

Paulius Motiejunas spoke to Basketnews about various issues, including those concerning Crvena Zvezda and its participation in the 2024-2025 EuroLeague season. The Serbian club won the ABA Liga and seemed to be entitled to participate in the next season of the continent’s top club competition, as Paulius Motiejunas himself stated in a recent interview, but instead that is not the case. These are the words of Motiejunas.

Motiejunas on Crvena Zvezda in the EuroLeague: “It’s not like if you win the league, you go to the EuroLeague. It doesn’t work that way anymore. Placing in the national championship doesn’t matter anymore. Everybody has a chance and we talk to everybody. The clubs decide. My job is to present the evaluation criteria so that the clubs can see and understand them. Crvena Zvezda, Partizan Belgrade, Valencia Basket, Virtus Bologna and ALBA Berlin will compete for the four wildcards. The final decision on who will participate in the next EuroLeague season will be made by the clubs with a permanent license”.
