The Phoenix Suns have fired Monty Williams as head coach. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the decision was made by owner Mat Ishbia.
Williams led the Suns to The Finals in 2021, but they had second round exits in each of the past two seasons. Before him, Phoenix had not reached the Playoffs for 11 years. The Suns hired Williams in 2019 when he was also a candidate for the Los Angeles Lakers.
