Virtus Bologna stole a huge road win in Monte Carlo, beating AS Monaco 82–84 on a Luca Vildoza three-pointer with 4 seconds to play. Despite a short-handed rotation — with Edwards, Hackett and Smailagic out and Niang limited by fouls — Virtus delivered a high-level second half, scoring 40 and allowing 31 after the break.
Monaco controlled early (30–22 after the first quarter, 51–44 at halftime), fueled by hot perimeter shooting and Mike James. Virtus turned the game with defensive intensity, tying it at 62–62 in the third and pushing ahead to +11 (66–77) in the fourth.
The hosts fought back and James drilled a late triple to make it 82–81 with 1:20 left, but Vildoza answered with the decisive shot from the top for 82–84. Elie Okobo’s final attempt rimmed out.
James finished with 17 points for Monaco, Okobo had 12, while Virtus were led by Alston (19), Vildoza (13) and Akele (11), keeping their play-in hopes very much alive.
