Monaco got the job done in Villeurbanne, defeating LDLC ASVEL 83-78 and locking up the fourth seed in the EuroLeague standings with a 21-13 record, which guarantees home-court advantage in the Playoffs.
Mike James led the charge with 20 points and 7 assists, including three crucial free throws in the final two minutes with the game tied at 74. Jordan Loyd added 16 points, Jaiteh 13, and Diallo 11 in a tough and physical contest.
ASVEL, already out of playoff contention, fought until the end behind Neal Sako (20 points, 11 rebounds), Andre Roberson (14 and 12), and Theo Maledon (18). But Monaco’s defense and James’ composure in crunch time sealed the deal.
