Monaco are looking for a new competition after being excluded from the EuroLeague and subsequently the EuroCup amid the club’s financial problems. According to Meridian Sport, the French champions have contacted ABA League president Ostoja Mijailović to ask about joining the competition.
The first step would reportedly be participation in the ABA 2 League, the second tier of the Adriatic competition. Monaco have also sent an official letter to the ABA League headquarters, requesting a quick response as the start of the season approaches.
The club, which won the French championship last season, failed to provide the financial guarantees required by the LNB and was subsequently excluded from the lower domestic divisions as well. A final decision on Monaco’s request is expected in the coming days.
