Yoan Makoundou is no longer with AS Monaco, as the club officially announced a separation after the player asked to leave.
It closes a relationship that began in 2022 but never truly took off on the court.
Makoundou described his return last summer as abrupt, saying “I found out on social media” and that he had no direct contact beforehand.
Two major injuries — shoulder and hip — followed, limiting him to just five EuroLeague appearances.
After playing only seven minutes in 2026 (at Chalon on February 8), Makoundou decided to stop.
“He wanted to leave the team, and it’s definitive,” coach Vassilis Spanoulis said on February 15, and Monaco have now made the mutual split official.
