The Milwaukee Bucks have paid tribute to Giannis Antetokounmpo after the trade sending him and Bobby Portis to the Miami Heat. The reported deal sends Tyler Herro, Kasparas Jakučionis, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel’el Ware, three first-round picks, one pick swap and one second-round pick to Milwaukee.
Bucks ownership described Giannis’ impact as “lasting and profound,” highlighting the NBA championship, his 13 seasons in Milwaukee and his role in elevating the franchise on a global stage. “Though this chapter has come to an end, Giannis’ legacy in Milwaukee is secure. Forever a Buck,” the statement shared by Shams Charania read.
General manager Jon Horst called it an “incredibly difficult decision,” made for the future of both the Bucks and Antetokounmpo. Milwaukee also thanked Bobby Portis, underlining his role in the 2021 championship run and his special connection with the fans at Fiserv Forum.
