Mike James explains Efes move: “We’ll have a chance to compete”

After five seasons with Monaco, the EuroLeague’s all-time leading scorer was convinced by Anadolu Efes’ project and ambitions for the new season.

Mike James explained why he decided to leave Monaco after five seasons and join Anadolu Efes. The 36-year-old American highlighted to Deniz Aksoy the project being built by the Turkish club, which also added Dario Saric and Matthew Strazel during the offseason.

“The conversations we had and just what they thought about the team this year and everything going on. The GM and Pablo,” James said during EuroLeague Media Day.

“Just seeing what they had planned and what they envisioned for me, and just the team they were putting together. I just thought it was good and thought we would have a chance to compete. I still feel that way, so I’m excited.”
