Mike James: “As you get older, playing 21 minutes is better for me than being always focal point”

After a good showing in his debut with the Brooklyn Nets, Mike James talked about how this new situation in Brooklyn might be better for him than the star role he usually has in Europe.

“I really didn’t know if I wanted to play in the NBA again. I was getting paid well. I like playing a lot and having a star role,” James said. “But as you get older, I don’t want to have that much responsibility on my shoulder every night. Playing 21 minutes a night and helping the team out is better for me and not being as much as a focal point. I feel like I can shine in that if I got the opportunity.”

James had eight points, two rebounds and two assists coming off the bench in the Nets’ win over the Celtics.
