According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Mike D’Antoni is in talks to join BC Roma.

The former Olimpia Milano point guard and longtime NBA head coach has reportedly been brought into the project by Bryan Colangelo, with the two sharing a long-standing friendship.

D’Antoni would add another major basketball name to an ambitious project that aims to bring Rome back to the forefront of European basketball.

Colangelo and Mullin join the Advisory Board

Colangelo and Chris Mullin have officially joined the club’s Advisory Board, chaired by the former executive of the Phoenix Suns, Toronto Raptors and Philadelphia 76ers.

The project already includes Donnie Nelson, honorary president Valerio Bianchini and special advisor Sergio Scariolo.

“There is a unique opportunity to build something important and lasting,” Colangelo said.

BC Roma targeting NBA Europe

The ownership group intends to develop BC Roma both on and off the court, with the long-term ambition of positioning the club as a candidate for the future NBA Europe project.

The potential addition of D’Antoni would further strengthen the basketball credentials of an organization that has already assembled an impressive group of experienced figures from the NBA and European basketball.
