Brown’s frustration centered on a late first-quarter collision involving Jalen Brunson and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, which he believed should’ve been an offensive foul.
The Oklahoma City Thunder won 103-100 after the Knicks missed two potential game-tying threes in the final six seconds.
In his postgame availability, Brown singled out SGA’s ability to influence whistles.
“SGA, he’s a tough cover, and he does a great job of convincing the referees — probably better than anybody in the league — that he’s getting hit,” Brown said.
On the disputed play, Brown added: “That should’ve been his third [foul], the bucket shouldn’t have counted and we should’ve gone the other way with the basketball”.
Brunson backed his coach: “I’m going to have his back every single night. He has ours”.
