Terry Rozier of the Miami Heat pleaded not guilty in Brooklyn federal court to sports betting-related charges

Terry Rozier of the Miami Heat pleaded not guilty in Brooklyn federal court to sports betting-related charges.

The 31-year-old guard faces counts of wire fraud and money laundering conspiracy and was released on a $3 million bond secured by two properties.

Prosecutors allege Rozier conspired with friends to help them win bets on his performance in a March 2023 Hornets–Pelicans game, exiting after 9:36 minutes with a supposed foot injury.

Rozier spoke only to answer “yes” or “no” in court, while his lawyer said he is “excited” to mount his defense and plans a motion to dismiss on constitutional grounds.

The judge scheduled the next hearing for March 3, as the government prepares to turn over “voluminous” evidence, including more than 1,000 documents and 55 gigabytes of data.

Rozier’s case is part of a wider federal probe into illegal sports gambling that has led to over 30 arrests and also involves Chauncey Billups and Damon Jones, with Rozier currently on unpaid leave from the Heat.
