Metta World Peace has revealed that he tried to invest $100 million in the Los Angeles Lakers after Mark Walter acquired control of the franchise in 2025. His proposal, however, was rejected.
“I sent the email the next day. I tried to get in at $100 million, and they didn’t let me in,” World Peace told the California Post. Formerly known as Ron Artest, he wanted to represent the Lakers’ history within the ownership group after helping the team win the 2010 NBA championship.
World Peace believed the franchise’s value would rise rapidly. Walter’s acquisition valued the Lakers at $10 billion before the reported valuation increased to $12.5 billion: “I knew the value was going to go up, so I missed out.”
