Zach Edey will be reevaluated in four weeks after being diagnosed with a stress reaction in his left ankle

Zach Edey will be reevaluated in four weeks after being diagnosed with a stress reaction in his left ankle, the same one he had surgically repaired this offseason.
His agent Mark Bartelstein told ESPN it’s a management plan «to optimize Zach’s long-term health», adding that both short- and long-term prognosis is «excellent».

The rookie center had been in dominant form recently, averaging 16.5 points, 14 rebounds and 2.2 blocks over his last six games, with Memphis winning seven of its past nine.
Edey previously underwent surgery in June to repair and restabilize the ankle after a sprain suffered during offseason training, missing the first 13 games before debuting on Nov. 15.

For the season, Edey is putting up 13.6 points, a team-high 11.1 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game, anchoring the Grizzlies’ interior.
Memphis will now have to navigate the next month without its starting big man, awaiting his follow-up evaluation to determine the next steps.
