Fenerbahce forward/center Nicolò Melli spoke with EuroLeague’s official website ahead of the semifinal of the new EuroLeague Super Cup against Olympiacos.
“At Etihad Arena, we won the EuroLeague, great memories…. You know, it’s a special place for me, so it’s nice to re-experience certain memories. Hopefully this weekend goes well, but this place will always have a special place in my heart.
“It’s important to start well. This is a brand-new trophy,” Melli explained. “We’ve been practicing together for a week, maybe 10 days, probably like all the other teams, so it’s a good opportunity to compete at the highest level. It’s a good opportunity to start on the right foot.”
Fenerbahce revamped its roster over the summer, adding both highly experienced EuroLeague players such as Shields, Larkin and Clyburn, as well as players on the rise like Juzang, Key and Bingham.
“We have some new faces, but most of them are experienced guys. Everybody knows what it means to come to Fener, so there is nothing to explain, just to work hard and work every day.”
