Totti: “I miss being around the locker room”
Maxima Roma presented its project in Piazza Venezia alongside president Paul Matiasic and Francesco Totti, who serves as an advisor to the club.
“He is not a symbolic figure, he is part of the project. He is our captain and he will help us convey our vision of sport,” Matiasic told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Totti, meanwhile, confirmed that he plans to follow the team even on the road.
“I have always liked basketball. I miss being around the locker room and I would like to experience those feelings again,” Totti said.
However, he will not attend Maxima Roma’s season opener against Napoli on September 27, which falls on his 50th birthday.
Matiasic: “We want to build an experience for the city”
Matiasic has set an ambitious target for the club, aiming to take Maxima Roma to the top of European basketball in the shortest possible time.
“We want to build not only a team, but a sporting experience for the city,” he said.
The project will also include the creation of the Maxima Foundation, with an announced investment of €5 million over the next five years.
