Maxima Roma continue to build their roster for the 2026-27 season. According to Superbasket, the Rome-based club have reached an agreement with Vernon Carey Jr., a 2001-born center from Miami, bringing the number of foreign players on the roster to five.
Carey played college basketball at Duke before spending time in the NBA with the Charlotte Hornets and Washington Wizards. During the 2025-26 season, he appeared in a few G League games with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, averaging 8.1 points and 3.4 rebounds.
The American big man returned to action after the knee injury suffered late in the 2023-24 season with Pinar Karsiyaka, where he had averaged 13.1 points and 6.1 rebounds. In Rome, he will join a frontcourt that already includes confirmed center Miro Bilan and new addition John Brown.
