D’Angelo Russell is joining the Dallas Mavericks on a two-year, $13 million deal, per ESPN, with the second year being a player option. The Mavs will use their $5.7 million taxpayer midlevel exception to complete the signing.
The 29-year-old guard averaged 12.6 points and 5.1 assists last season with the Lakers and Nets and will temporarily replace Kyrie Irving, who is recovering from an ACL tear.
Russell will also reunite with former Lakers teammate Anthony Davis in Dallas as the Mavs aim to stay competitive in a loaded Western Conference.
