Maxima Roma is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with American forward Matt Ryan, who will join the team’s roster for the 2026/27 season.
Following the signing of Xavier Moon, the club welcomes another player with NBA experience and an international background. With Ryan, Maxima Roma adds size, perimeter threat and one of the most valuable skills in modern basketball: the ability to stretch the floor and consistently knock down shots from beyond the arc.
Born on April 17, 1997, in the state of New York, Ryan completed an extensive college career, representing Notre Dame, Vanderbilt and Chattanooga. He began his professional journey in the G League, gradually earning several opportunities in the NBA.
Ryan played significant minutes with the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Pelicans and New York Knicks, making 82 regular-season appearances and shooting 40.2% from three-point range. Those numbers clearly highlight his elite shooting ability and his impact on the court.
In November 2025, Ryan began his first overseas experience, signing with Dubai Basketball, the UAE-based club competing in both the ABA League and EuroLeague. For the American forward, it marked his first international experience and his debut in Europe’s premier club competition.
In the summer of 2026, Ryan was selected to represent the United States internationally, joining the national team competing in the American qualifiers for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027.
Maxima Roma therefore welcomes a player who has earned every opportunity throughout his career through hard work, sacrifice and perseverance. His technical and personal qualities fully align with the identity of the new project led by president Paul Matiasic: ambition, stability and the determination to compete from day one.
