Marko Guduric reflected on Olimpia Milano’s season during an appearance on the Serbian 6.75 podcast. He spoke highly of his personal relationship with Ettore Messina but also described the pressure surrounding the coach. “He had planned to hand the club over to Peppe at the end of the season, but I think he could no longer handle it in November.”
The Serbian guard recalled the meeting in which Messina informed the team of his decision. “He told us that, while walking up the stairs to the arena before a EuroLeague game, he realized he could not continue.” Messina remained close to the team after leaving the bench but stayed away from practices for several months to avoid making Poeta’s position uncomfortable.
Guduric described Poeta as energetic and consistently positive but added: “Maybe he is too nice. I told him that, if necessary, he could yell at me too and perhaps wake the team up.” The player nevertheless stressed that there is no single winning method. “The important thing is for every player to accept the coach’s vision and be on the same page.”
