The NBA deputy commissioner outlines the European project: “It’s a historic opportunity, especially for Rome, Paris, Berlin and the UK.”

Corriere dello Sport focuses on Mark Tatum’s vision for NBA Europe, with the league’s deputy commissioner pointing to the size of the opportunity: “We are going after a $50 billion market.” Tatum also highlighted some of the cities at the heart of the plan: “The NBA in Europe is a historic opportunity, and I’m thinking in particular about Rome, Paris, Berlin and the United Kingdom.”

European soccer will also play a key role. “We have learned from European football its ability to attract sponsors and the importance of the pyramid,” Tatum said. “Soccer clubs are also starting basketball teams. We will begin selecting partners who share our vision: new arenas, entertainment, investment and a focus on revenues,” while maintaining “a connection with local communities.”

Tatum also discussed technology and the future of personalized NBA broadcasts: “We are translating games into 50 languages thanks to artificial intelligence. Sooner or later we could have a personalized experience, like a Philadelphia broadcast with LeBron’s voice. We have so much data that we can reach every fan. Are you a Curry fan? We can tell you everything about him.”
