Marius Grigonis returns to Zalgiris Kaunas after five years

After five seasons away, Marius Grigonis is back with Zalgiris Kaunas. The 32-year-old, 198 cm guard returns to Lithuania following four seasons with Panathinaikos.

With the Greek powerhouse, Grigonis won the 2023-2024 EuroLeague, one Greek League title and two Greek Cups. His best EuroLeague campaign with Panathinaikos came during the championship season, when he averaged 9.1 points and 8.7 PIR over 41 games.

“It is home, I know everything here. We have a long history with Zalgiris,” Grigonis said in his first interview after the move. Club president Paulius Jankunas praised his mentality: “Marius is ambitious and hungry for basketball. First of all, he wants to prove to himself that he can still play at that level.”
