American business leader Marc Stad has completed a deal to become the controlling owner and largest shareholder of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Lynx.

According to ESPN, Stad purchased the majority of Marc Lore’s stake in an agreement that values the franchises at $4.5 billion. The ownership change represents another major chapter for the organization, which only became controlled by Lore and Alex Rodriguez in 2025 after the NBA approved the transfer from longtime owner Glen Taylor.

Stad will now take control of both the Timberwolves and Lynx, becoming the organization’s leading owner and the new central figure in the franchise’s ownership structure.
