Malik Beasley has agreed to plead guilty to federal charges stemming from a U.S. Department of Justice investigation into illegal sports gambling.
The 29-year-old Florida State product reached an agreement with prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York. His attorney, Steve Haney, confirmed to The Athletic that Beasley has notified prosecutors of his intention to plead guilty.
Beasley is scheduled to enter his plea in federal court in Brooklyn on December 9.
He will become the second active NBA player to plead guilty to charges arising from the federal investigation into gambling-related activities connected to the league. Before him, Jontay Porter was banned from the NBA following an investigation into multiple violations of league rules.
Beasley has not played in the NBA since the 2024-25 season. Last year, he appeared in 15 games in Puerto Rico’s BSN with the Cangrejeros de Santurce.
