The Tel Aviv derby between Maccabi and Hapoel is not expected to be played in Israel due to the situation linked to the war with Iran, and now the original date is also in question, with tip-off set for Thursday, March 5 at 21:05.
As reported by ONE, Maccabi Tel Aviv have formally submitted a request to EuroLeague to push the game back. Their situation is described as complicated, with foreign players reportedly stuck in Dubai, Will Rayman in Israel, and part of the staff — including the physio group — based in the country, leaving everyone scattered.
In contrast, Hapoel Tel Aviv have already reached Eilat and, if everything goes smoothly, are expected to be in Athens tomorrow. A club source also took a swipe at Maccabi, saying: “We expect a decorated and well-run club like Maccabi to handle the required logistics just as Hapoel did, and not create major schedule congestion that would hurt teams’ competitiveness. Some of us still have something to compete for this season.”
