Preparations for the start of the FIBA World Cup 2023 in Okinawa, Japan, were shaken by an alert caused by a North Korean rocket launch, which prompted the evacuation of some residents.
Slovenian star Luka Doncic commented on the experience of the alert, which went off shortly before 4 a.m. local time: “It was a little scary. I didn’t sleep much,” Doncic added.
North Korea confirmed it was an unsuccessful second attempt to launch a spy satellite.
Doncic described the situation as “crazy,” but it does not seem to have affected the course of the scheduled events for the FIBA World Cup.
