Lu Dort is embracing his move to the Atlanta Hawks after spending his first seven NBA seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder. After learning about the trade, he immediately contacted Nickeil Alexander-Walker, one of his closest friends.
“It’s amazing,” Dort said, according to Clemente Almanza. “Nickeil is one of my closest friends. We played on the same high school team and against each other our whole lives.” The two Canadians will now become Atlanta teammates in 2026-27.
Dort is also looking forward to connecting with the city: “I know there are a lot of my roots and a big Haitian community out there. The whole city is a big vibe, and I can’t wait to go.” The 27-year-old will bring experience and established perimeter defense to the Hawks.
