In Tampere, Lithuania overcame Sweden 74-71 after a tense battle, finishing the group stage at 4-1. Trailing by as many as 12 in the first half, the Lithuanians turned the game around with a 21-14 third quarter, then held on in a close finale thanks to superior free-throw shooting.
Jonas Valanciunas was once again dominant inside with 18 points and 8 rebounds on 7-of-11 shooting. Arnas Velicka added 14 points and 7 assists, Tubelis contributed a double-double with 10 and 10, while Radzevicius scored 13. Sweden relied on Pelle Larsson, who topped their scoring with 18 points.
Lithuania hit 22-of-27 from the line compared to Sweden’s 8-of-15, the decisive stat in such a tight contest. Both teams are through to Riga, with Lithuania carrying momentum and Sweden already qualified earlier in the day thanks to Great Britain’s win over Montenegro.
