LeBron James opened the Lakers’ media day saying he is “super excited” for the season despite entering his 23rd year with an expiring contract. The 40-year-old will be the first NBA player to play 23 seasons.

“I’m not worried about contracts,” James said after picking up his $52.6M option. “The goal is to play championship basketball every single day,” he added, praising the revamped roster with Luka Doncic.

Recovering from a knee injury, LeBron focuses on conditioning. “The challenge is getting close to 100%,” he noted. On retirement, he stressed: “I’m not waiting on Bryce. My career has its own timeline.”
