LeBron James continues individual workouts as he recovers from sciatica in his lower back and right side, and his next step will be returning to live 5-on-5 practice, sources told ESPN.
James will not travel with the Los Angeles Lakers on their five-game road trip (Atlanta, Charlotte, OKC, New Orleans, Milwaukee) and will remain in California for training. The earliest possible return is Nov. 18 vs. the Utah Jazz.
Coach JJ Redick said there’s no fixed date yet: “We’re just making sure he checks every box. Hopefully, he’s back by mid-to-late November.” The Lakers are 6-2 without James, who will become the first player ever to play 23 NBA seasons once he returns.
