In a 140-126 win over the Utah Jazz, LeBron James made his long-awaited season debut, returning after 14 missed games due to sciatica. The 40-year-old logged 30 minutes, finishing with 11 points, 12 assists and 3 rebounds as the Lakers delivered their highest-scoring game of the season.
James extended his legendary streak of double-digit scoring to 1,293 consecutive games with a driving layup in the third quarter. Earlier, he knocked down two threes to pass Reggie Miller for 6th on the all-time made 3-pointers list, finding rhythm quickly after his G League rehab stint with South Bay.
Already the NBA’s all-time scoring leader, James now sits 50 games behind Robert Parish’s record for most games played, and 496 assists from Jason Kidd for No. 3 all-time. After completing full practices without pain, he returned to action and put on a playmaking display as L.A. pulled away in the second half.
