Lauri Markkanen scored a career-best 51 points to lead the Utah Jazz past the Phoenix Suns, 138-134 in overtime, ending a 27-year drought without a 50-point scorer for the franchise.
The Finnish star went 17-for-17 from the line, hit six 3s, and grabbed 14 rebounds in 45 minutes. “If you stay mentally strong, you can push through anything,” Markkanen said. He’s now the first Jazz player ever with 50 points, 10 rebounds, and five made threes in a single game.
Coach Will Hardy praised his forward’s grit: “He showed a tremendous amount of heart.” With Keyonte George adding 26 points and 10 assists, Utah’s young core is showing signs of real promise.
