The Charlotte Hornets star was sanctioned by the NBA for dangerous contact on Bam Adebayo and for using profane language in a postgame TV interview

The NBA has fined LaMelo Ball a total of $60,000 following the Charlotte Hornets’ 127-126 overtime play-in win over the Miami Heat. The penalty includes $35,000 for “unnecessary and reckless contact” with Bam Adebayo, with the league adding that the play created a “significant injury risk,” and Ball was also assessed a Flagrant Foul 2 upon league office review.

Ball was also fined an additional $25,000 for using profane language during a live postgame television interview. The incident involving Adebayo took place in the second quarter of the April 14, 2026 play-in game, and the Miami big man later exited with a lower back injury.
