Los Angeles Lakers coach Frank Vogel talks to the Athletic about the situation of his team, and about the possibility the 2019-20 season might not resume:
It would be a huge disappointment if we aren’t able to play. However, we get it, and this is bigger than basketball. And us getting back on the court is not the most important thing for the world right now. Hopefully we have that chance, and if we’re not able to, it would be a big disappointment.
Our guys all have the mindset — we have great player leadership — and all have the mindset to make sure that they’re going to do everything they can to stay ready for when we resume.
On the different situations faced this year:
“A lot of unusual circumstances and hopefully we’re able to resume safely and have an opportunity to finish what we started. That’s what we’re all hoping for. Again, just making the best of our circumstances, and focusing on what we can control.”
Before the suspension the Lakers were first in the Western Conference with 49 wins over 63 games.
